Shell case afternoon

HEFA shell case

This case study is meant for 3rd year bachelor students and master students.

You need to bring you own calculator.

On Wednesday the 7th of June, Shell is coming to us for a small but very interesting case study.
We will start at 14:00 and will end no later than 17:00. The case study itself will only take about 90 minutes.

Subject case study
Shell has the ambition to become a Net Zero Energy and Chemicals company by 2050.  To do so, Shell is working on facilities that can sustainably and affordably provide energy to customers. A great example is the HEFA biofuels facility in Rotterdam, where biobased oils are transformed into diesel for heavy road transport. A large challenge in making making chemical processes sustainable is in decarbonizing their utilities, such as steam, and auxiliary systems. In this case study, you will take a deep dive in how to energize the supplementary process related systems of Shells first, large scale biofuels facility, the Rotterdam HEFA plant.
